Instructions

Artistic imagination. Provide your child with a piece of paper and colouring pastels, crayons, paints. Using any of your favourite character pieces, Debussy – En Bateau, Offenbach – Can, Can, Beethoven’s’ Pastoral Symphony, Holst’s “ The Planet’s”; have your child listen and create a drawing based on what they hear. The composition could consist of swirls, zigzags, circles, a country garden or even an alien!

Tips

    Musical Improvisation is the creative activity of immediate (“in the moment”) music making, which combines performance with different moods, feelings, images and instrumental technique as well as spontaneous response to other musicians.
