Let’s start with selecting one of your child’s favourite toys for you to hide somewhere in a room. Next, you will decide on a favourite song or utilize your stereo/ radio by either raising or lowering the volume. If the child moves toward the object then you would increase the sound and if they move further away then you would diminish the sound. Allow these hints to help the child find the teddy bear! This idea introduces the beginning of dynamic growth with that of forte, f (loud sounds) and piano, p (soft sounds) being discovered.
Sounds, including music, can be barely audible, loud enough to hurt your ears, or anywhere in between. Scientists speak of amplitude, however, musicians talk about dynamics. An orchestra playing fortissimo (very loud) is going to be much different from a single violin playing ff (fortissimo), therefore making dynamics relative.
